Bombay Garden (San Mateo)
172 E 3rd Avenue, San Mateo, CA 94401
Welcome to Bombay Garden, a popular mini-chain of Indian restaurants with locations in Santa Clara, Newark, San Mateo! We specialize in serving the cuisines of North and South India, in an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of the grand palaces of India.
Our menu covers the range of northern Indian favorites. Appetizers include crispy vegetable and fish pakoras with a spicy dipping sauce, and vegetable or lamb samosas. Follow with a bowl of fragrant, spicy yellow lentil soup. For your main course, choose from a wide selection of rice and biryani dishes, hot or mild curries and delectable tandoori specialties. All entrees come with naan and basmati rice, or garlic naan, onion kulcha or a paratha.
Bombay Gardens menu also includes unusual south Indian dishes. The food of Southern India is vegetarian and less spicy than that of the Northern region. Try the masala dosa, a large rice and lentil pancake filled with potato curry and dipped in sambar and coconut chutney, or the utthapam, a pancake with onion and chilies. South Indian chaats are popular items as well.
Bombay Garden offers a full Indian buffet for lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The buffet offers a range of appetizers, a salad bar, and a rotating selection of curries and tandoori main courses. The buffet also includes naan, basmati rice, raita and chutneys. Make sure you visit the dessert bar for a selection of Indian desserts, including pistachio rice pudding and the popular mango soft serve ice cream.
Three Royal Feasts offer diners a large vegetarian or non-vegetarian spread. Or try the $5 thali for an excellent value. Choose any entre, and for an extra $5, Bombay Garden adds daal makhani, lentil soup, a vegetable curry, rice, naan, a papadam and the dessert of the day. Bombay Garden specializes in catering and has banquet facilities with handmade decor available for large or small events.
